FRENCH BRIDGES GET A CLOSER INSPECTION

Italian specialist manufacturer Barin has supplied two of its Automatic Bridge Control range platform-type machines for the inspection of bridges in France. The machines were manufactured in italy and assembled onto Scania trucks.
The machines were bought by French private rental company Albert Sarl, which based in Montigny-Les-Metz.
The company' s decision to buy two platform-type machines was driven by the needs of its customers, who demanded easy-to-use equipment that could offer complete safety for operatives carrying out underbridge inspections.
Like all of Barin's production range, the ABC machines purchased by Albert Sarl can each work in a single lane, so that traffic can continue to flow during the inspection procedure .
The ABC 200/225/LS which is mounted on a five axle Scania truck chassis, has a maximum platform length of 22.5m and a platform width of 1.5m.
Its maximum working depth is 12.2m and it can reach over footways that are up to 3.7m wide and bridge barriers that are up to 5m high. The underbridge unit can rotate up to 180°.
The ABC 170/190/L is mountedon a three-axle Scania truck chassis and has a maximum platform length of 19m and width of 1.3m The working depth is 8m and it can reach over footways of up to 2.85 wide and barriers of up to 4.1m high. The underbridge unit can rotate up to 180°.
Each machine has a special aluminium scaffold tower mounted on the platform to allow inspection up between the girders of the bridge . One of the machines has a manually-operated tower which can raise personnel by 4.5m, the other is electrically operated and can raise personnel by up to 6.5m height.
