SUBSIDIES INSPECTIONS, AND NOT ONLY, WITH THE NEW AB 20 / S UNIT

THE COMPANY BARIN SRL, WHICH WORKS IN THE SECTOR SINCE THE SIXTY YEARS,
IT HAS CREATED THE NEW AB 20 / S MOBILE BRIDGE UNIT, DEVELOPABLE BY INSPECTION
AND MAINTENANCE OF BRIDGES AND VIADUCTS OF THE TYPE WITH ARTICULATED ARM AND BASKET.


The first sub-assembly inspection unit belonging to the
range of equipment, called AB Line, of Barin Srl
it was delivered and put into operation in May
2018 at the Italian rental company Venpa Sud Srl.
This is the AB 20 / S model, a machine designed to carry out
light bridge inspection and maintenance work
road and rail viaducts.
The equipment of the AB range of the articulated arm type e
basket are designed to offer great maneuvering speed,
agility and operational security. The decision of the Venpa Company
Sud Srl to buy a car of this type is in fact
been dictated by the need to complete their fleet of equipment
access access.
The particular technical features make AB equipment
20 / S the most complete available on the market, as it is versatile
and compact.
Made in Italy and assembled on a Scania P410 E6LB 6x4 HNB chassis, like
the whole production range occupies only one lane of traffic, both in position
transport that in the working position, so that the traffic flow can continue
other.

EQUIPMENT COMPONENTS
The subframe
The subframe for coupling to the vehicle chassis: built
in high strength steel pipes and sheets, it is connected
to the frame of the motor vehicle by means of bolted joints, it is covered
of non-slip aluminum sheets forming a flatbed
walkable.
The wheeled three-wheel stabilizer trolley
The trolley is installed on the right side of the truck (launch side),
which is extended vertically to the ground by means of an oleodynamic cylinder
before proceeding with the launching operations.
The rubberised wheel stabilizer allows hydraulic translation
slow drive along the bridge with developed equipment
in both operating modes (both sub-posts and
sovraponte).



The revolving turret
The turret is constructed of high-strength steel sheets, it is
mounted on the rotating frame of the subframe and is equipped
with an hydraulic geared motor and negative brake unit
that allows the rotation of 130 ° together with the superstructure
in the horizontal plane to the right side of the truck.

Support arms
There are four support and orientation arms of the basket:
the first, hinged to the revolving turret and built in sheet metal
of high strength steel, supports the support at the other end
fifth wheel.
The raising and lowering of the boom is hydraulically operated
by means of a cylinder and allows the exceeding
sidewalks of bridges up to a width of 3.0 m. and
the overcoming of lateral barriers of bridges up to a height of
4.0 m The second arm is connected to the upper end of the
fifth wheel with a joint that allows the rotation of 180 ° one
once it has been placed vertically. At the bottom end is
instead connected to the third arm with a connecting rod system and is
composed of a fixed element and a telescopic element
which extends by means of an oleodynamic cylinder and which supports
at its end the fourth arm (jib arm) with hooked
the work platform.
The third arm can be raised and lowered by means of
another hydraulic cylinder to allow the basket to reach
the maximum 20 m horizontal outreach range, 23.8
m maximum vertical inspection depth for under-beams and i
20 m maximum working height overlap.
The arm can be raised and lowered up to 3 m (equal to
a rotation angle of 125 °) to allow access to the intrados
beams from the staff on board the basket.
The arm is equipped with a joint in the center section
which can be manually rotated 180 ° in the plane
horizontal allowing to position the platform at rest
on the flatbed of the truck for road transport within 12 m of
total length of the vehicle.



The work platform (basket)
Made of aluminum alloy, it is equipped with a toe board
side access protected by sliding bars and floor
in non-slip material. The platform is hydraulically
extendable by 650 mm by means of an oleodynamic cylinder,
from dimensions 1.500x1.000x1.100 mm (length x width and height,
all returned), to 2,150x1.000x1.100 mm (all-inclusive), the
which allows to have a work plan increased in
case the operators had to carry out jobs that require
more free space on board.
The work platform is also equipped with:
• automatic leveling device in the main floor,
obtained by means of a hydraulic cylinder operated by a level switch
electronic and proportional solenoid valve;
• manually operated device for leveling the
basket in the main plane in case of device failure
automatic leveling;
• leveling device in the secondary floor operated manually
from maneuvering selector and hydraulic cylinder,
to keep the drum leveled within an angle of + / ─7 °;
• safety belts for safety belts;
• overload device.
The working load on board the work platform is even
to 300 kg (three people + 60 kg of tools).



OPERATIONAL DEVICES
The equipment is hydraulically operated, with devices
of electrical and electronic control.
Command devices
I. From the console located in the cab of the truck
commands for:
• activation of the equipment's 24V power supply
from truck batteries;
• PTO coupling and translation gear
on the transmission shaft of the truck (for translation
slow down of the unit in operating mode);
• buffer discharge of the air suspension
truck.
From the control panel on the chassis, the hydraulic controls are activated
for:
• raising / lowering of the stabilizing trolley;
• raising / lowering the B4 arm with the basket on the
back of the truck, to allow access to personnel a
edge of the basket from the road level;
• selection of the operating mode (sub-bridge / overpass).
The controls are operated from the control panel in the rotating turret
for emergency recovery of the arms on the wagon in case of
failure of the platform control devices:
• hydraulic distributors for control of fifth-wheel rotation maneuvers;
• articulation of arms;
• extension of the third arm;
• slow hydraulic translation of the unit.
From the control panel placed on the platform, the commands are activated:
• on / off for the leveling of the basket up to + / ─7 ° (up / down).
• on / off extension / platform return;
• Proportional electrohydraulic manipulators.
For safety reasons, unit translation is possible
only with the driver in the cabin, who must press
a maneuver consent button located on the dashboard
and can steer and stop the vehicle in case of obstacles present
along the way. The slow oleodynamic translation of the unit
it is obtained by means of a geared motor and negative brake
applied to the truck's transmission shaft.
Proportional controls allow the operator full control
maneuvers and the gradual acceleration of speeds
in play. Possibility to carry out several maneuvers at the same time.
The AB 20 / S unit is equipped with a remote control system
modem to allow remote verification of the components
electronics and adjust the parameters if necessary.
