Descender

Pier inspection device, to enable the descent of operators along bridge piers up to more than 50 m. depth beneath bridge deck level. During road transportation the arrangement is stowed in rest position on top chassis deck of the ABC carrier vehicle. Once the ABC unit reaches the bridge work site the “Descender” basket gets attached at tip of the ABC platform by means of a manual-operated crane supplied by Barin and the whole ABC equipment, together with the "Descender" basket, gets launched parallel to bridge axis. After launching operations are over personnel can get on board the basket from tip of the ABC platform and the basket gets released from the locks, ready to start the descent along the piers. Two guiding wheels keep the basket in touch with the pier during the descent/ascent manoeuvre.
